Sophia Taverna wins 2013 Seaview Open/Girls Age 10

Sophia Taverna age 10 from Holmdel, NJ ends the summer with her most impressive victory to date shooting 77/75 (36 holes in 2 days) winning her first major by a whopping 12 strokes at the Seaview Open.  Seaview is a regional tournament venue for the US Kids Junior Golf Tour and also hosts the LPGA / Shop Rite Classic in late May early June among other special events.  This was her send most important tournament of the year after the US Kids World Championship and definitely the most important win of her 6 year career.

Other highlights for summer 2013 include four more wins in 9 hole events at the Rutgers Junior Girls Championship age 10 & under, The Monmouth County Junior Championship age 10 & under with a score of 39, and two out of two wins at her home club at Colonial Terrace in Wanamassa NJ with scores of 37 and 40.

If the upcoming year follows suit, Sophia will play her next tournament 10 months from now after a long year in public school and additional pursuits in honors math, theatre, piano, girl's scouts...plus dancing and singing recitals.  A very busy girl to say the least but very happy to have won at Seaview Open this year.

Well done Sophia!  Congratulations and the very best of luck in the coming school year.
