Small Business Sandy Recovery Dec. 12th

Operation HOPE/HOPE Coalition America will be hosting a Small Business Sandy Recovery event at the Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library, Thursday, December 12th from 1:00-4:00.  Any business still in the recovery process can attend the informational fair.  Other organizations that have committed to being available to small businesses at that time include: NJ Work Environment Council, NJ Business Action Center, Small Business Development Center and non-profit lenders The Intersect Fund, UCEDC, and NJ Community Capital.

The timing of the event is critical for those small businesses needing assistance in applying for the grants that close at the end of the year.  Businesses can also find information on loans with as low as 1% interest rates.

Sharron Greenberg a VISTA serving with Operation HOPE this year said some people who don’t think of themselves as small businesses could be missing out on help.  A woman approached her at a recent event saying she knew there was no help for her second home and was worried because she depended on the rental income.  Ms. Greenberg pointed out that if it was a full year rental there was a grant (at the time) for landlords.  Now there is a new grant available that could assist Sandy survivors if they are a registered daycare provider.
