On Sunday, October 6th, Holmdel’s own 10U and 12U softball teams celebrated their fall travel season with a fun scrimmage, mixing the two teams together and then topped it off with a fabulous barbeque and awards recognition ceremony.
The 12U team, led by Coaches Janice and John Migliazza and John Martinez, was comprised of all 7th grade girls, many of whom have been playing recreationally and on the travel team for the past several years.
The 10U team, was newly formed in the summer and geared to play for the fall season. Coaches Chris & Eileen Briamonte, Ron Emma, Dennis Pavlik, Chris Whittle and George Yan dedicated themselves to working with the girls by instructing them in every aspect of the game.
The girls played two double-header games for five weeks and played competitively throughout the season. The girls were hard-working and elevated their level of play as a result of their commitment to the sport. Some highlights of the girls’ season included a triple play, several homeruns, great pitching and catching and exceptional defense.
The Coaches are extremely proud of their teams, the strides they have made and are looking forward to building on this success for the upcoming spring 2014 season.
