Ceremony Welcomes Back Vietnam Veteran to NJ

Join the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Foundation as they welcome Sergeant First Class Robert H. Wescott Jr. home.

The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Foundation will be host a ceremony tomorrow, Tuesday, August 6th at 10 a.m. to honor the memory of a new veteran that has been added to the Memorial. The ceremony will take place at 1 Memorial Lane in Holmdel, NJ (Garden State Parkway Exit 116 on the grounds of the PNC Bank Arts Center).

Sergeant First Class Robert H. Wescott Jr. of Teaneck, N.J. served in the US Army in Korea and served two tours in Vietnam. Wescott last served with the 11th Cavalry, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment. He was killed in action on April 29, 1969 in Tay Ninh, South Vietnam.

Sergeant Wescott Jr.'s name was added to the Memorial after relatives informed the Foundation that the serviceman had connections to New Jersey, but his military records listed his home of record as somewhere outside the state. This addition brings the total number of New Jerseyans on the Memorial to 1,563.
