Today is the 41st Anniversary of Earth Day! It’s a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment. Gaylord Nelson, a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, was inspired by the anti-war movement led by students of the time and decided to try and harness that energy to raise awareness for air and water pollution. As I sit down to write this article, I can’t help but think of a bunch of my friends that do not recycle at all. They have a laundry list of reasons why: “It’s so hard to do,” or “Who cares?” and “I pay enough taxes in Holmdel”…the list goes on and on! Why recycle you ask? We need to recycle for many environmental reasons, as well as monetary reasons. The future of your children and grandchildren are depending on it.
