Just a quick little blog to share how proud I am of my children's dance school, Perna Dance Center, located on 651 Laurel Ave. in Holmdel (with a Hazlet address).
Next week, there will be 40 dancers and their families leaving for Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada to perform pieces from this year's "Passport to Adventure" show. They will be in Canada from July 5th to July 8th.
On July 6th, the dancers will show off their pose and dedication of their talents right across from the Falls at Illumination Stage for the people who come from all over the world to visit the Falls.
The large group will then head over to the capital of Ontario, Toronto, for some sight seeing and to do another show at Casa Lomo, a beautiful castle in the midst of the Metropolitan.
Of course during their time in Ontario, they will do some shopping at the Eaton Center, a huge 3 story mall in Toronto, and have some down time at a water park near Niagara Falls.
Good luck to all the dancers and their instructors on their upcoming trip and performances.
As a Canadian, I know you will enjoy your time and as a part of the Perna Dance Center family, I know you will represent Hazlet, New Jersey and the United States very well. Good luck to all!

My two daughters have attended many dance schools over the years and Perna is far and away the best. Most end-of-year recitals are a grueling forced march through interminable routines of tots in tutus. Not so with Perna. Their recitals are highly entertaining with outstanding music and choreography wrapped in imaginative overall themes. Highly recommended (even if you don't have a child/friend/relative in them).

Where is Miss Hedy? My kid attended 25 years ago!!! Still tap dancing? Does anyone remember the Hazlet Christmas Parade held in sub-zero conditions? All the kids were dressed as Santa's Reindeers.

Hahaha @Bud, yes Miss Hedy is still around and yes, the dance school will be celebrating their 25th year this upcoming 2012-13 season. They still do the Christmas shows but alas, there is no parade in Hazlet anymore. Now the dancers go to Monmouth Mall and an adult community to perform - so now they sweat to death in those Christmas tree costumes! Come visit us next June during recital time, I'm sure Miss Hedy would love to see your dancer!
@Nicole, thank you for the well wishes but sadly we won't be traveling with the group. I'm originally from New Brunswick, Canada and will be heading home in a few weeks so it was just an issue of timing for us. I know the dancers will do us all proud!!!
