The Holmdel Boys Varsity Soccer team suffered a disappointing loss last night to Ocean, 2-0, in the Shore Conference Finals.
Holmdel dominated the game for most of the first half but could not find the back of the net.
The score at the end of the half was tied at zero.
Ocean's Tyler Nowak scored both of their goals on free kicks awarded just outside of the box.
Credit Ocean's goalkeeper, Chris Seager, with a very strong performance, making 6 saves and stopping several well placed attempts, and a friendly cross bar, which at least 2 strong shots bounced off of instead of in.
Ocean was able to double team Zach Bond and prevent him from having his usual outstanding game.
Holmdel goalkeeper Mitchell Walier had 7 saves, but was unable to prevent a score on the free kicks.
Congratulations to Ocean Township, Shore Conference Champions.
The Boys now await their first State game which will be at home against Raritan. Originally set for Monday, that game awaits rescheduling from Hurricane Sandy. The Girls Varsity will face Manasquan at home in the first round of State which is now set for Tuesday. That will most certainly be rescheduled as well.
Game schedules will be posted on this blog once they are available.
