Ziemba Appointed Fire Chief in Holmdel
Doug Ziemba Sr. was appointed Fire Chief in Holmdel Township.
At its 2013 reorganization meeting, the Holmdel Township Committee appointed Doug Ziemba Sr. township Fire Chief.
Mayor Patrick Impreveduto said the township had been without a chief since 2011 when Chief Tom Savage resigned his position.
"We are so happy to have Doug on board," Impreveduto said "Holmdel has been without a fire chief for two years, and the Township Committee is extremely pleased to name one of our own as Fire Chief."
Ziemba was previously chief of Fire Company Number One.
Ziemba will be involved in all matters concerning fire safety in the township, and worked as a liaison between Fire Company Number One, on Main Street, and Holmdel Fire and Rescue Number Two, on Centerville, and the township administration.
Savage was Holmdel Township's first Department Chief, appointed in 2007.

This guy needs to be in a looney bin and they put him as fire chief for the town. Tomorrow my house goes on the market the town is not safe as fire protection goes. As far as I'm concerned the fire company on centerville road is holmdels fire company I always see there trucks around and they are always working hard to raise money, all my donations go to them and I live on company ones side of town.

Dear Concerned Resident,
If I were you, I wouldn't boast about donating money to the folks on Centerville. Any company that walks door to door begging for money and then tells a resident that they only take donations in cash sounds a little fishy to me. Do your research and then move out of town if your so concerned.

The township should do something to curtail fire companies 1 and #2 from collecting cash. Especially Centerville thay are always collecting. Who is keeping track of the money

first they hire a looney bin for administrator then they appoint this guy as chief who the hell votes for this township committee? There may be no corruption but there deffinitely is stupidty. Doesnt seem to promising that they actually know what goes on a daily basis or how to choose appropriate people for positions.

Thanks everybody for their concerns. But from what i heard the reasons fire 2 is always out fundriving is because they are the townships larger fire department and have to be able to provide equipment for about 35 active members when fire 1 has to provide for 5 active members. Also fire 2 is only about 5 years old and needs some equipment that fire 1 has purchase a little over time each year within the past 30 years when fire 2 has had only 5 years.

It's a disgrace for what has happened with the fire company in Holmdel. I was Fire Chief for Holmdel fire Co. #1 for 25 years. When I left as chief in Dec. 2007 was when Fire Co. #2 was getting off the ground. I was in charge of 3 fire stations, 13 pcs. of equipment and 45 members. Look at it now. A certain few people wanted to start thier own fire co. With friends on the twnsp. committee this was achieved. It was a bad mistake to do what they did. I tried to reason with them but they did not listen. Two years later I was approached and was told that I was right. When they made Tom Savage twnsp chief I was not even told about this nor was I offered the posistion. I had more qualifications than him. I will say this, it's who you know not what you can do. I served the township well for 37 years and was proud of it. Never did I get a thank you for a job well done. If they need me, I am still around.
