Trick Or Treating Postponed in Holmdel and Hazlet

Dangerous conditions still exist; officials ask its littlest residents to please reschedule.

While trees are still uprooted, much of the town remains without power and traffic signals are still dark throughout Holmdel and Hazlet Township in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, township mayors are calling for the postponement of the annual Halloween trick or treating tradition.

In Hazlet, the trick-or-treating is "resecheduled" for Saturday November 3rd.

In Holmdel, the township will re-assess the situation on Wednesday, and announce a later date for a township-sponsored Halloween event, said Mayor Patrick Impreveduto.

"I don’t think it’s wise, we still have major trees blocking roads," he said.

Holmdel and Hazlet schools remain closed on Wednesday.

A state of emergency travel ban on non-emergency personnel is still in effect. No word on when that would be lifted.
