Middletown Planning Board Considers Mosque Expansion Plans, Route 35 Office Building

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of Town Hall

 

The Middletown Township Planning Board will hear continued testimony tonight about the plans for an expansion of the Islamic Society of Monmouth County at 502 Red Hill Road in Middletown, on the Holmdel border. Read Patch's coverage of the June meeting. A decision is due by Friday, July 13.

Also, at the 6:30 p.m. meeting, an applicant with plans to demolish buildings at 1000 Route 35 and 1004 Route 35, merge the properties and construct a 15,559 square foot office building will be seeking major site plan approval.

The site is located at Penelope Lane, just before the Municipal Building, and is currently the site of In Touch Massage Therapy and law offices.

Whether one supports this plan or not, one way to cut traffic is to get people there without an automobile. For those who aren't lucky enough to travel, most states have bike/walk paths parallel to roads, allowing folks to travel their community without a car -- and get healthy at the same time.
