The Humble Bridges of Holmdel Township
A look at how we get from here to there in beautiful Holmdel township.
On Thursday, that impressive bridge we take from Route 36 to the pleasures of the Monmouth shore was renamed the ‘Captain Joseph Azzolina Memorial Bridge’ for the late Assemblyman, businessman and Navy veteran. There was a nice ceremony.
On May 17, the photogenic Oceanic Bridge linking Locust Point in Middletown to Rumson's downtown reopened after months of repair to lots of hoopla.
But here in Holmdel, there are lots of very nice bridges too. They just don't get a lot of fanfare.
Over the past year or so, I've been pausing on my rounds around town to snap photos of them. Modest, practical and necessary bridges that just quietly beg to be noticed.
Many of the outdoorsy folks will recognize them. But there is one in the mix I think will be a stumper. Let's see who can solve the riddles in the captions and name them all.
