Notes on brush pickup, delayed school opening, free concerts, CILU picnic and 911 memorial service.
The DPW will collect brush left at curbs -- but it must be at the curb by today -- Tuesday, Sept. 6. They will work methodically through the neighborhoods, section by section. Brush must adhere to township guidelines as described on the township website.
Due to the storm, the first full day of school for students will be Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Find more information about the schools on the district website.
CILU Picnic Saturday
Citizens for Informed Land Use hold their annual event at Veterans Memorial Park, 100 Telegraph Hill in Holmdel, from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Sept. 10. Families, $10; individuals are $5. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks are included. Participants will be asked to bring salad or dessert to share. Free Concerts for Seniors at PNC Bank Art Center
Did you know that you can see a free daytime concert at the PNC if you are over the age of 55? The concerts are made available through the Garden State Arts Foundation. You will want to be on their mailing list, but if its not too late, you can just show up at 1 p.m. with your lawn chair, but be aware its possible you might not get in. More details at the website. These are the next three shows, all at 1:30 p.m.: Xavier Cugat Orchestra, Sept. 7; Frankie Avalon, Sept. 13, and Julie Budd, Sept. 20.
September 11 Remembrance
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Holmdel 911 Memorial, in front of Town Hall. The service will include a recitation of names and candle lighting of loved ones lost. All township residents, friends and families are invited to attend.
