A petition drive by Holmdel residents to protest the DEP's plan to allow the entire Lucent and Garden State Arts Center tracts to be sewered will continue this weekend. Read the full story here.

  • At the same time on Saturday, other concerned citizens will collecting names at a table at Cross Farm Park.

Volunteers were also talking last night about having a table for the petition at the paper shredding event on Sunday morning, behind Holmdel High School, but had not yet committed to do so. See details about the county-sponsored shredding event here.

This will chang the character of Holmdel and be a grave mistake. At t he present time, development is limited by the capabilityes and limitations of existing infratructure. After sewer are installed, developement will be limited only by the whim of the politician, and the decision of the court. Effectively, the residnets ability to control development will be lost, forever.

This is scary. We can end up with potentially hundreds of townhomes on Lucent, not to mention the loss of water that would normally go to our reservior now going into sewer pipes. Everyone needs to sign the petition being distributed by CILU.
btw- I thought it was the Department of ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION!
