Old Water Tank in Hazlet Eyed For The Latest Technology

AT&T is proposing upgrades to cellphone antennas attached to the 130-foot tall tank as part of the 4G rollout.

AT&T Mobility is moving from 3G to 4G LTE technology, that they say will result in a stronger signal.

To make that happen, they will soon be proposing to swap out some old cell phone antennas for new ones in Hazlet, as well as in places like Spring Lake, New Brunswick and Paterson.

If approved by the Hazlet Zoning Board, a dozen 4" x 12" antennas will be attached to the 1960s-era water tank at 1709 Union Avenue, on Shorelands Water property to replace a dozen older ones, grouped around the sides.

They will be put in the same place, which is just below the catwalk, according to contractor EBI of York Pa., which announced the proposed network upgrade in a public notice published in the Asbury Park Press on November 14, 2012.
