New Leadership Elected on Holmdel School Board
Ana Vander Woude was elected President of the Board of Education.
New leadership is underway in the Holmdel school district after Ana Vander Woude was elected President and Dennis Pavlik Vice President.
Vander Woude and Pavlik took the reins from sitting board members Barbara Garrity and Robin Wetmore, after a close vote for both seats.
Vander Woude garnered five of the nine board votes, while Pavlik also won his seat with five votes. Wetmore and Board member Mike Sockol were also nominated for the president and vice president seats.
The new leadership comes at a contentious time on the board, after allegations of "bullying" between board members were brought up publicly at a November meeting by Vander Woude and Pavlik.
Those allegations were contested by Garrity and Superintendent Barbara Duncan.
Three board members were sworn in, including Wetmore and Chiung-Yin Cheng Liu. Wetmore was first elected to the board in 2005 and Liu in 2009. Joseph Hammer was recently elected in Nov. 2012.

Congratulations Ana and Dennis!!! Your leadership is exactly what the district needs to reverse the downward spiral that has been happening due to the previous leadership.

BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! Congratulations to Ana and Dennis! Doing the right thing goes a long way....with all of us. I slept well Wednesday night knowing we are all in good hands now. Keep up the great work! And great job Holmdel electing Joe Hammer, his first meeting was very impressive. He cares about parent input which I would think is expected here....but unfortunately seemed to be met with resistance. Keep it up Joe! Congrats to all!

I would like to personally congratulate Ms.Vander Woude & Mr. Pavlik and echo the words of Debbie: We are all in good hands now! Finally this freak show has come to an end. Unfortunately due to a prior engagement, I was not able to witness this wonderful event that took place Wednesday night. I would have loved to been there to see the look of constipation on our superintendants face when her 2 puppets frick and frack got the hook! BM was so happy when I heard and ran out of my house with my birthday suit on and did cart wheels up and down the street??? Only kiddin. No cart wheels. Just the birthday suit!!! Also, I do not want to forget Mr. Hammer which congrats are also in order. I'm sure you will be a great addition to our board with our new leadership!!! and always remember "Big Mike" loves everybody!

I'd like to say 'congratulations' to our new leaders Mrs. Vander Woude and Mr. Pavlik, and 'welcome' to our newest board member Joe Hammer, and thank everyone for volunteering their time. As the author said, it has been a contentious year but I am hopeful that in 2013 the Administration and Board will focus less on lawsuits and more on what is best for our district and our children. Onward and upward.
