Making better choices with Felicia Stoler
Healthy living tips from Holmdel's own momtrepreneur
On Saturday afternoon I'll be at a book signing at Barnes and Nobles in Holmdel. My own!
Last week I finally had my book published, "Living Skinny in Fat Genes: The Healthy Way to Lose Weight and Feel Great."
I wrote the book about my passions: nutrition, fitness and wellness. I feel very strongly that diet and exercise are the least expensive, least invasive and most effective ways to prevent and treat diseases.
Writing the book was the easy part. Getting the word out is the hard part. My quest is to help people live healthier lives has led to appearances on TV and radio, and interviews in newspapers and magazines.
But I wanted to try something new. On Thursday I attended the QVC Guest Excellence Seminar to become “certified” for their network as on-air talent, so that I could be called upon as a credible expert on diet, food, nutrition and exercise.
It's important to me because there is so much misinformation out there. I really can’t believe how frequently I hear the same “myths” over and over again.
In this column I look forward to sharing my adventures on the book promotion circuit, as well as advice on local eating, cooking, health and exercise right here in Holmdel.
My first tip would be to support your local farmers. Eat Jersey produce and more importantly – try to eat less foods that are highly processed.
One of the things I love about Holmdel is shopping at Ondrush Farms, just across from the Satz school. Dearborn Farms is another favorite grocery stop for this Jersey Girl.
Felicia Stoler will be signing books at the Holmdel Barnes & Nobles store on Route 35 on Saturday, January 8 from 1 to 3 p.m.
