Holmdel's Village School Closing Early Due to Nearby Transformer Fire

There will be no PM kindergarten.

Holmdel's Village School will close at 1 p.m. on Thursday due to a transformer fire in the area causing the school to lose power.

Students who do not have an available adult at the bus stop will be returned to Indian Hill School where they can be picked up by their parent/guardian.

The closing only applies to Village School. Afternoon kindergarten has been canceled.

Any children not met at their bus stop be taken to Indian Hill School to await pickup by their parents.

Students in the "Primetime" after-school program will be transported directly from Village School to Indian Hill School, and will have their regular session at that location. Parents should adjust their pickup plans accordingly.

All after-school activities at Village school are CANCELED for the day.

Questions or concerns can be directed to Nicole Collins, Transportation Coordinator (732) 946-1847.

I have to say I impressed with the way the school and Township handled this electrical issue. I was notified by cell phone, home phone and email that the school would be closing early. Way to go Holmdel for watching over our children and our community!

Teresa I completely agree - so refreshing to get too much information about a situation. The staff at Village did an excellent job keeping our students safe and the parents informed.

I was helping in the library at Village School today when the power went out and from that minute until the last bus left, the staff, parents and children worked together to ensure our children got home safely. I was thoroughly impressed with all who helped. No one panicked and everyone had an important job to do. Phone calls, Primetime arrangements, bus scheduling, parent pickup, and more was all done quickly and effectively. I have to mention that I have always been impressed with the women in the front office but today I was in awe of how they were the center of it all. They were calm and calming, they know all and do all and we should all be so thankful for them. Mr. Schillaci and Miss Vierschilling were amazing organizing all aspects of the day. I can't say enough, I'm just so impressed with all who were involved including the parents. This was not a drill, it was real and it was successful. Bravo to Village School!
