Holmdel Approves 183 School Days for 2013-14
The calendar schedules 24 vacation days for students, and five four-hour sessions.
The Holmdel Board of Education has approved the calendar for next year, with 183 school days set.
The calendar (attached to this article) schedules 24 vacation days for students, and five four-hour sessions.
The district has three emergency or inclement weather closings built in, but should closings exceed three days the calendar will take away May 23, then bring a four-hour session for April 14, while finally taking away April 16 as vacation days.
If by March 21 emergency closings are less than three days, vacation will be added to April 21, May 22 and May 27.

I wish they wouldn't extend the Memorial Day weekend to 6 days. The kids are getting out in a few weeks anyway. Why do they need a 6 day weekend?

Starting the 4th, having off the 5th, coming back the 6th, then the weekend? Can't we take 2 days somewhere and start the 9th? Our summer is already shortened by this extended year. Those poor Kindergarten children will have a hard enough time adjusting to their new school without the confusion of not going to school every day in a normal routine. There are plenty of half and full days off to work with; For one... 1/2 day Dec 20th and off 12/23? Why not full day 20th and half day 23rd?
