Hearing on Route 35 Development Along Holmdel Border Continues

Middletown Planning Board will hear a proposal for a 245-unit housing development near Taylor Lane and across from Target.

A proposed 245-unit housing development returns before the Middletown Township Planning Board on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

The application by American Properties in Middletown would develop 31 acres along Taylor Lane and Route 35 South across from Cherry Tree Farm Road and the Middletown Target. The project is near the Holmdel border and includes a lot listed in the Holmdel Township tax map.

The proposal, called Heritage at Middletown, includes 196 market-rate multifamily townhouses and 49 affordable multifamily units, along with a 3,600-square-foot clubhouse and a pool for the community.

The hearing, continued from the governing body's Dec. 5 meeting, will be held at Middletown Town Hall.

The traffic is horrendous there NOW! 300 more kids equals a half of a new school! In this housing market, building these is insane! Lets fill up the thousands of empty units already built in the area.

They should look to buy this land and preserve as open space- our roads have enough traffic and our schools are maxed out- this development will make that jug handle a bigger mess and will benefit no one but the greedy developer who probably doesn't even live within 500 miles of here and could care less about the negative impact this will have on the own
