Hazlet Police Arrest Motorists With Driving Under the Influence

Three out of four September arrests occurred during daylight hours.

 

The following information was released by the Hazlet Police Dept on Sept. 21. An arrest is not a conviction. 

Sept. 2: Richard Raymont, 40, of Old Bridge was charged by Hazlet Police with driving under the influence of drugs at 2:30 p.m.

Sgt. Scott Mura arrested Raymont on Middle Road, and charged him with possession of heroin, possession of a controlled dangerous substance without proof of a prescription, and driving a car under the influence of narcotics.

His car was impounded because his passenger, Edwin Smith, 40, of Keansburg was also arrested and charged by Ptl. Joseph Forgione for unlawful possession of prescription pills, hindering apprehension, and obstruction of the law. 

Sept. 2: Maria Chavez, 31, of Keyport was charged with driving under the influence by Ptl. Anthony Forlenza at 11:20 p.m. She was stopped as a result of a motor vehicle violation on Route 36. 

Sept. 15: James Schultz Jr., 46, Central Avenue in Aberdeen was arrested by Ptl. Scott Randolph at Highway 35 and Hazlet Ave at 6 p.m. and charged with DWI, reckless driving, no drivers licence, no insurance card, and improper use of a cellphone. He was arrested as a result of a motor vehicle investigation. 

Sept. 16: Sasha Kalaca, 48, of Leonardo Avenue in Leonardo was charged with driving while intoxicated at 5:20 p.m. at Route 35 and Miller Avenue by Ptl. Chris Acevedo. A concerned citizen called police to report alleged reckless driving and gave police her license plate number.
