Former Hazlet Mayor, Committeeman Honored for Service to Township
Former Committeeman Brady and former Mayor Tinker were given plaques at a recent committee meeting.
Former Hazlet Mayor David Tinker and former Committeeman James Brady were recognized for their service and dedication to the Hazlet community at the Township Committee's Jan. 14 meeting.
Mayor Joseph Belasco presented both men with a plaque, reflecting on his time working side-by-side with them.
"There's a history here, with the mayor and myself," Belasco said with a laugh, referring to former Mayor Tinker. "We've had a couple of battles. I won the first one, he won the second one but through those battles I think we became good friends. We were lucky to have him."
Tinker was elected to the Township Committee in 2009 and is expected to continue to serve the township on the Relay For Life Committee, which he has been closely tied to in recent years.
Former Committeeman James Brady was also elected in 2009 to the Township Committee.
"I want to thank Mr. Brady very much. He was not only a partner on the Committee but he was a friend and he always treated me well and with dignity, and I will never forget it," Belasco said.
Brady is also expected to continue to serve the township as a volunteer on local committees.
