NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Felician College baseball senior standout Mickey Zudonyi (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel HS) has been named as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Student-Athlete of the Month for April, which was announced recently by Commissioner Dan Mara.
Zudonyi is the third Felician student-athlete to earn the award in its two-year history, joining Devon Young (Men's Basketball, Nov. 2010), and Ashlee DiSalvo (Volleyball, Oct. 2011).
Zudonyi, a native of Holmdel, N.J., has excelled athletically and in the classroom during his five years at Felician and has also become a leader among his peers in the community.
The fifth-year senior ended his career as Felician's all-time leader in hits and is a two-time All-CACC choice at second base. He also ranks among the program's top-five all-time leaders in games, runs, triples, walks and stolen bases.
During his senior campaign on the diamond, Zudoyni helped to guide the Golden Falcons to the 2011-12 CACC Baseball regular-season championship with a 16-4 conference mark as well as a runner-up finish at the 2012 CACC Baseball Championship.
Zudoyni posted a .251 average during his final collegiate season with 36 runs scored (7th in CACC), 14 stolen bases (13th in CACC) and four triples (5th in CACC). He only struck out 18 times in 229 plate appearances.
Zudoyni has been active in community service efforts throughout his collegiate career as he has participated in the 2010 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk, the 2011 North Jersey Walk for Wishes and numerous other fund-raising activities for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In addition, Zudonyi was the lone team captain for the Golden Falcons in 2012 and is a member of the Felician Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
In the classroom, Zudonyi boasts a 3.58 grade point average while majoring in Marketing. He is a two-time Academic All-CACC selection.
The CACC Student-Athlete of the Month is awarded from September through May to select student-athletes who excel in athletics, the classroom and the community.
