SJV Student Accepted Into The Joffrey Ballet School Summer Program

An announcement from Saint John Vianney in Holmdel.

Saint John Vianney high school sophomore Corinne Hidar of Red Bank has been accepted into the Joffrey Ballet School’s Summer program in New York. Corinne has been studying dance for over thirteen years and studies at the NJ Dance Center in East Brunswick. She competed against over 4,000 dancers nationwide to receive a spot in the Joffrey program. Only thirty dancers were accepted.

Corinne has competed nationally and regionally. She came in sixth place for her solo performance in the regionals. She has also danced at Madison Square Garden during the half-time show of the NY Liberty game.

Corinne would like to continue dancing in college and attend Montclair University. Her favorite style of dance is contemporary and she hopes to continue to dance professionally after college.

Corinne said the hardest thing about dancing is the critiques.

“I love to dance and I hope to do it professionally. But, the hardest thing about dance is being criticized, especially as a solo dancer. You have to have a lot of confidence,” said Corrine.
