SJV Girls Basketball Team Wears Pink In Honor Of Breast Cancer
At a recent girls Varsity Basketball match between Saint John Vianney and Holmdel High School, SJV wore pink uniforms to help bring awareness to breast cancer.
The team also sold candy, bracelets, 50/50 raffle tickets and shirts during the game to help raise money for the cancer foundation, Breast Intentions.
Breast Intentions is a foundation based out of Middletown,
NJ. The foundation helps families during their cancer treatments by providing financial support as well as emotional support.
Breast Intentions relies solely on donations to help fund their cause. They have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for families in need. They have paid anything from mortgage payments to sewer bills for families that are struggling during their cancer treatments.
Also, before the February 7, 2012 the senior players held their annual Senior Parent Night.
Each senior, Angelica Esposito, Kaleigh Ganter, Zoe Otterman and Paxton Reddington called their parents onto the court to thank them for all of their support.
Each senior gave their parents a rose and their framed basketball jersey.
After the game, the team and parents celebrated their win over Holmdel, 61-45, with a dinner in the cafeteria.
