Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

It was another successful weekend for Holmdel Football Association's football and cheer programs.  All three competitive cheer teams headed down to Trenton on Sunday November 6th to compete in the Big East Cheer competition for a chance to qualify for the National Championships in Orlando, FL.  For the first time in Holmdel history, all three teams qualified!!!!  The top three teams in each division move on to Nationals. Our youngest competitive team, the Jr. Pee Wees, had another great performance and wound up placing 2nd - this will be the 2nd year in a row that our Jr. Pee Wee team is competiting at the National Championship - placing 3rd in the nation last year.  Our Pee Wee team placed 1st in their division and now hold the Big East Championship for the 12&Under Large Blue division - they competed at Nationals last year and also placed 3rd in their divison, this year they are hoping to take home the Gold!  Our oldest team, the Midgets, placed 2nd in the 15&Under Large Blue division and can't wait for a chance to re-claim their National title; these girls competed at Nationals as Pee Wees in 2009 and won the National Championship!

While our girls were rockin' the Sun Bank Center in Trenton, NJ - our Pee Wee football team was playing in the 2nd round of the playoffs at Hunterdon High School.  They played the Toms River Indian Pee Wee team - who was known for their great defense, letting up the least amount of points in the regular season.  That didn't stop our boys!  Holmdel took the lead 14-0, the first touchdown was scored by Aneesh Agrawal - after a 35 yard run, he scored two plays later.  The second touchdown was scored by Johnny Christian after Tristan Wong blocked a punt in the end zone.  The Indians fought back and took the lead late in the game 18-14. Tristan Wong came up huge for the team by blocking the 2pt conversion on the Indians' 3rd touchdown.  The Holmdel Pee Wee boys pulled off an amazing win, scoring with just 4 seconds left in the game to defeat the Toms River Indians 20-18.  A 40 yard pass to Zach Bair brought the ball to the Indians' five yard line, three plays later on 4th and goal Aneesh Agrawal threw the touchdown winning pass to Zach Bair.   The boys are set to play in the 3rd round of the playoffs on Saturday November 12th at 12:30pm at Toms River High School South!  Please come out and support our football players - cheer them on to another victory which will bring them one step closer to qualifying for the National Championship!!!
