Come help celebrate the 109^th birthday of the beloved Dr. Seuss with stories, crafts and other Read Across America fun at the Monmouth County Library!

Dr. Seuss was the author of 46 children’s books, including the Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham and Horton Hears a Who!  In honor of his birthday on March 2, the National Education Association created its Read Across America program. Now in its 16th year, this year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through special events, partnerships, and reading resources.

One of the ways Read Across America celebrates Dr. Seuss’s birthday is to encourage adults to read aloud to children. Several Monmouth County Library branch libraries will feature guest readers from the community in the next few weeks. To quote the Read Across America program: “You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child!”

The Library’s Dr. Seuss celebrations begin in February and go into March – here’s a sampling:
